Abstract

Que produisent les tiers-lieux lorsqu’ils sont saisis par les pouvoirs publics comme un instrument à l’échelle d’une ville ? Comment s’intègrent-ils dans un territoire rural dans ce contexte et pour quelle réception ? Pour répondre à ces questions, cette proposition s’appuie sur le cas d’Ormet (nom fictif), petite ville rurale du centre de la France, singulière par son activité artistique et ses tiers-lieux, à partir de données qualitatives (entretiens, atelier participatif, observation de réunions de travail) et d’une étude des perceptions de l’art dans leur ville par les habitants. L’analyse de ces données permet de mettre en lumière les logiques de l’action publique à l’œuvre à Ormet, les tensions que ces expérimentations soulèvent entre groupes sociaux et leur portée transformative, y compris au-delà des objectifs institutionnels qui leur étaient affectés.
