This article systematizes contemporary Chinese scholarly research on the history of Harbin Polytechnic Institute (now University), founded by Russian emigrants. It provides a comprehensive review of Chinese academic publications examining various aspects of the institute’s activities: its establishment, curricula, collaboration with industrial and military sectors, and its impact on Harbin’s cultural and economic development. The authors emphasize the need to integrate Chinese scholarship into Russian historiography to achieve a more complete understanding of the Russian émigré community’s role in shaping higher education in China.
