The emergence of the task to define the concept of "economic portfolio" is associated with the need to create the general strategy for the development of a diversified enterprise. The latter, according to I. Ansoff’s statement, is regarded as a set of strategies of the enterprise units. At present, there is no generalized concept that characterizes this set and has ambiguous interpretation – «a portfolio», «a business portfolio», «an economic portfolio», etc. In the article the concept of «economic portfolio», its composition and purpose are substantiated.It is proposed to understand the motor transport enterprise business portfolio as the totality of business strategic units belonging to the same organization that are oriented to servicing one or more strategic economic zones in order to meet the consumers’ needs and make a profit.
