
The article analyzes the features of criminal punishment of individuals in English law. It states that English legislation does not define the concept of criminal punishment. Thus, this concept recognized in many judicial decisions and teachings of publicists. The issue of the purpose of criminal punishment elaborates at the legislative level in the Criminal Justice Act of 2003, which provides a list of them. It mentions that there is no criminal law code in England, so penalties are not contained in a single legislative act, but codified in separate statutes. There is no division of types of punishment into primary and extra. Also, the article describes other types of punishment, such as execution, imprisonment, fines, etc.
