Morfología y ecología del paisaje en las periferias agrourbanas: las huertas de Campanar y Rovella en Valencia

Abstract

Los espacios periurbanos de las ciudades españolas han sufrido en las últimas décadas transformaciones sustanciales con respecto a su configuración natural o agraria inicial. Estos espacios tienen una localización estratégica como zonas de transición entre la ciudad y el territorio circundante, por lo que es necesario poner a punto conceptos y herramientas específicas para su análisis y diagnóstico, que permitan caracterizarlas e identificar sus patrones de transformación. En este artículo se realizan en primer lugar unas consideraciones que nos llevan a proponer el término "periferias agrourbanas" como el más apropiado para designar los espacios periurbanos vinculados a usos agrícolas. A continuación, exploraremos algunas herramientas y conceptos asociados a la ecología del paisaje (landscape ecology), una disciplina que pone en relación los parámetros morfológicos que definen la estructura física del paisaje con su funcionamiento y transformación como ecosistema. Finalmente, verificaremos la aplicabilidad de dichas herramientas y conceptos al análisis de los procesos de transformación de las huertas de Campanar y Rovella en Valencia.
