Technology of laser color marking for steels

Abstract

Abstract. Problem. Color marking of steel was performed while maintaining surface quality with lasers of various types. The basis of the color marking of metals is the process of formation on the surface of the sample the films of the oxides and nitrides of the material under the influence of laser radiation. The color of the film depends on its chemical composition and thickness. Goal. The goal is development of modes of color laser marking of steel with the help of lasers of different types. Method. Color marking of corrosion-resistant steel was performed using a CO2 laser, solid-state and fiber lasers. Results. The effect of laser radiation parameters on the surface color was studied. Studies have shown that full-color marking can only be done with a fiber laser. On the basis of preliminary calculations of the temperaturetime parameters of radiation and the experiments performed, it is established that the color of the marking is determined mainly by the number of pulses per point. Scientific novelty. Modes of color marking of steel with a fiber laser while preserving surface roughness are developed. Practical significance. It can be used in microelectronics for marking workpieces, products and equipment at all stages of development and production.
