In the work of O.M. Bucci et al. (see IEEE Antennas & Propagation Symposium, p.146-9, vol.1, 1989) a general projection approach was used to deal effectively with a large class of constrained array synthesis problems. In the present work, that method is further generalized to include a constraint allowing a smooth excitation distribution. A test case shows the feasibility of the approach presented. >
