There is no longer in doubt today the reliability of carcinogenic effect of human papilomavirus (HPV) on cervical epithelium. International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) officially announced HPV types 16 and 18 as carcinogenic factors. But the only presence of HPV in humans does not cause the development of cervical cancer. This requires initiating factors, as it is believed that during active sexual life every woman can be attached by HPV. A low immune defense of the body, chronic inflammation of the genitals, a large number of abortions, trauma during delivery, inadequate treatment of background diseases of the cervix and other factors in addition to the presence of HPV plays an important role in the genesis of malignancy of cervical epithelium. It’s showed in many clinical trials. The article highlights the results of examinations of women with background and precancerous cervical diseases and accompanied with TORCH-infections and infections transmitted sexually. It was found out that women even without HPV infection, but with the presence of virus associations such as herpes simplex virus type ½, cytomegalovirus, Epstein-Barr, high incidence of precancerous cervical processes.
