Espacios Escultóricos (1969): análisis y reconstrucción de una exposición que marca en el surgimiento de la instalación artística en Chile

Abstract

En el año 1969, el escultor chileno Víctor Hugo Núñez realizó la exposición Espacios Escultóricos en la desaparecida Sala Universitaria de la Universidad de Chile. La muestra contempló la exhibición de una pieza ambiental que puso en diálogo el compromiso político y el afán experimental del momento. El presente artículo tiene como objetivo dar a conocer los resultados de una investigación que se orientó al análisis de esta exhibición y su contexto de producción. La relevancia de este estudio radica en su condición inédita al interior de la historia del arte local, situación que se sustenta en el rescate de una obra clave que buscó tensionar las relaciones existentes entre la obra, el espacio y el espectador. La metodología propuesta para esta investigación se centró en el análisis crítico de documentos escritos y visuales, instancia que se unió a las entrevistas realizadas al artista. En relación a los resultados obtenidos, se destaca la reconstrucción historiográfica y digital de la exposición, acción que permitió concluir que Espacios Escultóricos marca la antesala en el surgimiento de la instalación artística en el contexto chileno.
