Abstract

Статья посвящена изучению истоков, эволюции и семантического содержания композиции из трёх соединённых башен в китайской архитектуре. Зародившись ещё в III веке до н. э. как оформление главных ворот статусных архитектурных комплексов, данная композиция обрела новое прочтение в буддийской архитектуре. Со временем три поставленные в ряд башни, связанные друг с другом по верхнему ярусу переходами или галереями, стали символизировать Небесные дворцы, парящие в Западном небе Ситянь, которое в буддийской мифологии олицетворяло место наивысшей радости без страданий. Закрепившись в изобразительном искусстве VI—IX веков, данный образ постепенно переходит в рельефный декор и с Х века начинает воплощаться в ряде буддийских построек, став впоследствии весьма устойчивым в архитектуре буддизма. Проведённый анализ позволяет глубже понять причины формирования характерных объёмно-пространственных решений в буддийской архитектуре и раскрыть их смысловое содержание.
