Abstract

Рецензия на книгу Джона Бушнелла – американского историка, профессора Северо-Западного университета колледжа Вайнберга (США). В основе книги – описание практики безбрачия в XVIII-XIX веках у крестьянок из среды старообрядцев Спасова согласия и его влияние на жизнь крестьянских дворов. Автор серьезным образом дополняет и углубляет имеющиеся представления о разнообразии типов брачности среди крестьян в Российской империи. В какой степени ранняя и всеобщая брачность была универсальной моделью для представителей всех направлений православия? Книга будет полезна для широкого круга интерсующихся российской историей, начиная от крестьяноведов, демографов и историков периода Российской империи, и заканчивая рядовым читателем.
