Motivos que fomentan el ejercicio físico en educación superior. Un análisis comparativo por sexo

Abstract

El objetivo de este trabajo fue conocer los motivos de los estudiantes universitarios para practicar ejercicio físico, comparar en función del sexo e identificar la asociación entre los motivos analizados. Un total de 364 estudiantes universitarios (122 hombres y 242 mujeres) con una edad media de 21.8 años (DE= 2.6) participaron en este estudio no experimental, transaccional y descriptivo. El instrumento utilizado para la recolección de los datos fue el Goal Content for Exercise Questionnaire y para el análisis de los datos se utilizó la prueba U de Mann-Whitney y el Coeficiente de Correlación de Spearman. Los principales resultados demuestran que en función del sexo existen diferencias significativas en los motivos de afiliación social, reconocimiento social y desarrollo de habilidades, siendo los hombres los que presentan puntajes medios más altos. Además, se identificó que existen correlaciones significativamente positivas entre todos los factores analizados, a excepción de la correlación entre la mejora de la salud y el reconocimiento social. Esos hallazgos permiten conocer los objetivos de los alumnos respecto a la práctica de ejercicio físico, aportando información clave para generar programas y ofertas de acceso al deporte y la actividad física en línea con los intereses del estudiantado en el ámbito universitario.
