
The article attempts to synthesize the ideas and statements of the original writer of the middle of the XIX century Ap. Grigoriev about personality and the problems of its functioning in society. The process of anthropological views formation throughout the entire period of the “organic criticism” author creativity is shown. Particular attention is paid to the statement of the problem of personality in the 1840s, sociopsychological and moral aspects of problem of personality in critical articles of the 1850s–1860s. It is proved that the search for ways to harmonize the person inner world and the social relations was the main thing in A. A. Grigoriev’s work. Comparison of Ap. Grigoriev’s position on the problem of personality, that was the one of the most important in literary and artistic criticism of the middle of the XIX century, with the other journalists of the studied period point of view makes the results of the study more revealing and the general conclusions at the end of each of the analyzed stages of the critic’s work more convincing.
