Abstract

2020 yılında Türkçe’ye Hasan ÜNDER ve Raşit ÇELİK tarafından çevrilen kitap Whitehead’in eğitimle ilgili yazılarını ve konferanslarını bir araya getirme amacını taşımıştır. Dolayısıyla kitap tek bir eserin çevirisi değil; birden fazla kaynaktan sağlanan eserlerin ürünüdür. Kitap eğitim felsefesi alanıyla ilgilenen, özellikle liberal eğitim hakkında çalışan yüksek lisans/doktora öğrencileri ve akademisyenler için iyi bir kaynak niteliğindedir. Kitabın başlığı içeriğini en iyi şekilde yansıtabilecek şekilde düşünülmüştür. Whitehead 20. yy’da eğitim felsefesinin özerk bir disiplin olarak gelişmesinin öncü isimlerindendir. Liberal eğitim geleneğine bağlı olarak eğitimde reform önerileri sunan filozof, eğitimi entelektüel boyutuyla incelemiştir. Eğitimde hala çözüm bekleyen problemleri ele alan filozofun fikirleri okunmaya değerdir.
