Factores influyentes en la elección universitaria en Ecuador: análisis desde la síntesis neoclásica y la economía conductual

Abstract

Esta investigación analiza los factores que influyen en la elección universitaria en Ecuador, diferenciando los de la síntesis neoclásica y la economía conductual, evaluando la relevancia de la infraestructura, reputación institucional, oferta educativa, factores económicos, ubicación, conocimientos previos, influencia social, vida social y factores individuales. Para ello se realizó un estudio descriptivo con enfoque cuantitativo mediante una encuesta a 633 estudiantes de universidades privadas ecuatorianas, aplicando métodos estadísticos descriptivos e inferenciales. Los resultados indican que la reputación institucional, la oferta educativa y los factores económicos son los más valorados, seguidos por la vida social y los factores individuales. La infraestructura también se destacó como un componente relevante en la decisión. Aunque los factores tradicionales siguen siendo prioritarios en la elección universitaria, los aspectos relacionados con la economía conductual aportan una nueva perspectiva que refuerza la necesidad de estrategias institucionales más integrales para atraer estudiantes en un entorno competitivo.
