LOGIC AND ONTOLOGY FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF PHENOMENOLOGY IN HUSSERL AND HEIDEGGER

Abstract

In my paper, I present a reconstruction of the understanding of the correlation between logic and ontology in phenomenological philosophy. I chose the works of Edmund Husserl and Martin Heidegger on the philosophy of logic as material for my investigation. It is shown that the difference between objective and subjective types of logic is of considerable significance for Husserl. He associates objective logic with formal ontology, thinking that the only reason for their difference is in the proper way of the doxic activity of consciousness. Heidegger discusses the idea of logic in the context of his phenomenological ontology. He realises so-called phenomenological dismantling of the traditional understanding of logic. As a result, he makes the conclusion that the basis of logic is in the ontology of being-present. At the same time, the extrapolation of the logic on the regions of that-which-is, which have other ways of being beside being-present, is incorrect in Heidegger’s view. The common points of Husserl and Heidegger are the attempts to reconstruct the transcendental genesis of logic and paying attention to the problem of apophantic judgements.
