Abstract

Los edificios como elemento primordial en la urbanización están en constante aumento en el costo y la explotación de recursos naturales debido a las tendencias de diseño, en la utilización de materiales y los métodos constructivos, representando un impacto ambiental alto, siendo responsable del 40% de la energía final y del 33% de emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero a nivel mundial, así mismo del 14% del consumo del agua y el 60% de los desechos producidos. Este articulo tiene por objetivo presentar un manual enfocado a la sustentabilidad, que guie a los usuarios de un edificio convencional a tener buenas prácticas ambientales; incluyendo el uso eficiente de la energía, manejo del recurso hídrico y gestión de residuos, disminuyendo así el impacto ambiental. Este trabajo desarrolla una metodología que permite evaluar las variaciones de eficiencia energética, manejo del recurso hídrico, gestión de residuos y sus implicaciones en el costo económico.

Buildings as a primary element in urbanization are constantly increasing in cost and exploitation of natural resources due to design trends, in the use of materials and construction methods, representing a high environmental impact, being responsible for 40% of final energy and 33% of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide, as well as 14% of water consumption and 60% of waste produced. The objective of this article is to present a manual focused on sustainability, which guides the users of a conventional building to have good environmental practices, including the efficient use of energy, water resource management and waste management, thus reducing the environmental impact. This work develops a methodology to evaluate variations in energy efficiency, water management, waste management and their implications on the economic cost.
