Co-développement d’un projet collaboratif pour le suivi télémétrique hivernal d’ombles chevaliers à Kangirsuk, Nunavik, Canada

Abstract

Kangirsuk, village Inuit du Nunavik1, est réputé pour l’abondance de ses ombles chevaliers anadromes (Salvelinus alpinus) qui sont une ressource de subsistance pour la population locale. Cependant, dans le lac Tasirjuarusik, situé près de la communauté, les ombles disparaissent temporairement pendant l’hiver et réapparaissent au printemps. L’association locale de chasseurs et pêcheurs (l’Anguvigaq) souhaitait élucider cette mystérieuse disparition par un suivi télémétrique des poissons. Le présent article fait état de la démarche suivie pour bâtir un projet de recherche collaborative entre Inuits et scientifiques non-Inuits, de la demande de financement aux premiers travaux de terrain. Le projet est mené par les partenaires Inuits, soit l’association de chasseurs et pêcheurs (Anguvigaq) de Kangirsuk, en collaboration avec les partenaires scientifiques. La démarche présentée se veut un exemple de projet collaboratif en territoire autochtone qui peut être répliqué et qui permet de favoriser l’engagement de tous les acteurs, Inuits et non-Inuits.
