En este artículo se analiza el periodo de disputa política y territorial autonomista de Aguascalientes frente a Zacatecas entre 1835 y 1857 a través de la cultura escrita y la historia del libro. Se explican tres proyectos letrados vinculados a las redes intelectuales y de poder que buscaban demostrar, mediante impresos y la circulación de información, una serie de argumentos de estabilidad económica y política primero, y después dejar manifiesto que la sociedad era lo suficientemente letrada, moderna y productiva, con un sólido y organizado grupo de artesanos, para sustentar la consolidación de la independencia del estado.
