Abstract

La raza Sanmartinera en nuestra región se ha visto sometida a varios factores adversos, siendo elprincipal, el hombre, que mediante cruces absorbentes la ha colocado en vía de extinción, contán-dose actualmente con tan solo 3.166 cabezas de ganado puro (Martínez,1999). Razón por la cuales muy importante la caracterización citogenética de la raza mediante patrones de bandeo cro-mosómico (G, C y NORs) de cariotipos bovinos, y así poder inicialmente estandarizar la técnicade bandeo cromosómico, realizar un idiograma, determinar el número de bandas típicas paracada cromosoma y describir las características de cada una de ellas, para obtener un patrón decomparación, y en posteriores trabajos poder observar si existe alguna anormalidad cromosó-mica estructural o numérica en esta raza, que comprometa su producción y reproducción.
