Abstract

Lo scrittore giornalista e poeta J.V. Foix (1893-1987) ebbe un ruolo molto rilevante nella cultura Catalana specialmente nel periodo delle Avanguardie, all’inizio del XX secolo. Comunque non è molto noto il suo coinvolgimento nell’architettura così come dimostrato da diversi articoli scritti dopo che egli ebbe visitato la V Triennale di Milano (1933), successivamente raccolti nel libro Mots i maons o a cascú el seu. Parte del lavoro di Foix può essere considerato un’interpretazione critica dell’architettura da un punto di vista letterario. A parte una generale approvazione per l’Architettura Moderna e le Avanguardie, i suoi scritti riflettono una concezione sorprendentemente matura dell’architettura che anticipa importanti opinioni che, sia in Spagna quanto in Italia, avrebbero orientato il lavoro teorico dell’architettura nel periodo del secondo dopoguerra. Molto probabilmente entrò in diretto contatto con l’architettura del Movimento Moderno mentre stava visitando la V Triennale rendendosi conto degli intrecci incrociati tra architettura e letteratura specialmente tra il contesto internazionale e la Catalogna.
