Abstract

Schopenhauer critica o racionalismo ao afirmar que o ser humano é dominado por forças cegas, irracionais e instintivas, as quais chama de Vontade, um conceito relacionado com a coisa-em-si kantiana, com a diferença de que a Vontade poderia ser experimentada através da introspecção, enquanto a outra seria incognoscível. Sua construção filosófica fundamenta-se em conceitos provenientes das filosofias orientais, tal como a vacuidade budista, chamada por ele de vazio. Diante disso, tem-se como hipótese que a visão filosófica de vazio em Schopenhauer difere daquela apresentada pelos orientalistas, levando à consequências opostas. Enquanto a vacuidade budista levaria a uma vida significativa, alegre e transformadora das realidades internas e externas dos sujeitos, a visão particular de Schopenhauer parece levar ao niilismo, ao pessimismo e a uma busca ascética de negação da vontade e da vida, como possibilidade de romper com o sofrimento. Assim, a partir da metodologia de revisão bibliográfica, esse estudo comparado busca trazer a Filosofia oriental para a discussão de Schopenhauer, respondendo à seguinte questão: niilismo, pessimismo e ascese são resultados de uma visão particular de Schopenhauer sobre o conceito budista de vacuidade (sunyata)?
