El Brasil de la extrema pobreza

Abstract

Brasil está de moda. El país de la Amazonía, el fútbol, la samba, el carnaval, las playas y la alegría, en los últimos años se abrió a una nueva realidad, un nuevo estatus. Brasil es hoy un ejemplo de crecimiento económico, de desarrollo, innovación y biocombustibles. Además posee una de las mayores reservas de petróleo del mundo con Pré- Sal¹, cada día gana más protagonismo a nivel de la política internacional –en parte gracias a uno de los presidentes más carismáticos de la historia, Luis Inácio “Lula” da Silva-, es parte de uno de los nuevos clubes de países poderosos como miembro del BRIC –Brasil, Rusia, India, China, al cual recientemente se está sumando Sudáfrica-, y permanente aspirante a una silla en el consejo de seguridad de la ONU. Como si esto no bastara, el mayor país de Latinoamérica va ser sede de la próxima Copa del Mundo el 2014 y organizará las Olimpíadas de Rio de Janeiro el 2016. Claramente se proyecta como candidato a “país de la década”
