Estado nutricional en adultos mayores

Abstract

Fundamento: En Cuba se incrementan los servicios de alimentación social a las personas de la tercera edad y sobre todos los que no tienen amparo familiar para mejorar su estado nutricional y de la calidad de vida. Objetivo: Valorar el estado nutricional en los adultos mayores pertenecientes al consultorio # 32 en el área de salud norte del municipio Morón, Ciego de Ávila. Método: Se realizó un estudio descriptivo transversal desde el 1ro de enero al 30 de junio del año 2007.El universo estuvo constituido por todos los adultos mayores dispensarizados en dicho consultorio (266). Se extrajo una muestra representativa de 80 adultos mayores, se le aplicó una encuesta diseñada según los objetivos propuestos y que contó con las siguientes variables: grupos de edades, sexo, pérdida de peso en el último mes, y complementarios. Resultados: De los 80 abuelos que constituían la muestra, 52 pertenecían al sexo femenino (65%), 28 al masculino (35%), aproximadamente la mitad se encontraban normopeso 41(51,25) y cuatro perdieron de peso en el último mes. La glucemia fue normal en 51, la hemoglobina normal en 75 y el colesterol lo fue en 74(92,5%). Conclusiones: Predominó el sexo femenino y aproximadamente la mitad se encontraban sobrepeso u obeso.
