L’ITALIANO IN VENEZUELA

Authors: Giulia Bernasconi;

L’ITALIANO IN VENEZUELA

Abstract

Italian in venezuela There is a large Italian community in Venezuela and many visible signs of the Italian presence in diverse aspects of life in this Latin American country which indicate how Italians have been able to integrate themselves in Venezuelan society while maintaining its identity at the same time. Witness to this strong bond created between Italy and Venezuela, there is a strong demand for Italian language and culture courses, but can this strong Italian presence really influence the spreading of the study of Italian? Through a survey conducted at a private Italian institute in Caracas, the author tried to respond to this question, verifying the reasons for the expansion of Italian in Venezuela. The final results, even though based on a small sample, showed how the motivations were varied and diversified, but at the same ime the link to the original Italian identity and the interest in Italian was not to be overlooked.
