Abstract

A propósito de uma homenagem recentemente feita a todos os Presidentes da SCAP desde a sua fundação, em 1902, são aqui relatados diversos factos históricos ocorridos durante os primeiros anos da sua existência. Por exemplo, são recordados os nomes dos principais associados responsáveis pela criação da Sociedade, a forma como eram eleitas as Direções de então, algumas determinações curiosas dos primeiros Estatutos, locais das reuniões, principais atividades desenvolvidas tais como homenagens, etc. Em particular é referida a figura do Professor Ferreira Lapa, nascido em 1823, considerado o pai do Ensino Agrícola em Portugal e Mestre dos Agrónomos Portugueses, o qual foi objeto de várias homenagens por parte da nossa Sociedade. Também é recordada a figura do Professor José Veríssimo de Almeida, um dos fundadores da SCAP e seu principal dinamizador durante os primeiros anos da vida desta Sociedade.With regard to a tribute recently done to all the Presidents of SCAP, from its foundation in 1902, some historical facts that took place during the first years of its existence are reported here. For example, are remembered the names of the most important associates responsible for the creation of the Society, the form as the Directions were elected, some curious determinations of the first Statutes, the meeting locations, main activities such as tributes, etc. In particular, is referred Professor Ferreira Lapa, born in 1823, considered the father of Agricultural Education in Portugal and Master of the Portuguese Agronomists, who has been the subject of several tributes on the part of our Society. It is also remembered Professor José Veríssimo de Almeida, one of the founders of SCAP and its main driving force during the early years of the life of this Society.
