Abstract

O artigo argumenta que embora a teoria das Relações Internacionais e as teorias da modernização tenhamse desenvolvido, durante a Guerra Fria, em ambientes disciplinares desconectados, foi estabelecida umadivisão de trabalho implícita entre elas voltada para a (re)produção de um mesmo mundo. O mundo queas teorias das Relações Internacionais e da Modernização supostamente descreviam, mas que, de fato,construíam, era um mundo de Estados soberanos assentado numa clara separação entre os ambientesdoméstico e internacional. Ademais, ambas as teorias produziam um mundo que urgia pela liderança dosEstados Unidos seja para lidar com os perigos e incertezas advindas de um ambiente internacional definidopela teoria das Relações Internacionais como “anárquico” ou para promover a modernização domésticadas sociedades pós-coloniais descritas pelas teorias da Modernização como “tradicionais”.
