Epilepsia y nulidad matrimonial

Abstract

La epilepsia forma parte de la extensa lista de causas de naturaleza psíquica que pueden ser responsables de la nulidad de un matrimonio canónico. Aunque algunos profesionales consideran que gracias a los nuevos fármacos la epilepsia es curable y que la carga de estigma social que esta tenía ha sido superada, el mal comicial no es una pieza de museo (se estima que la padecen 40 millones de personas de las cuales un 80% viven en países en vías de desarrollo) y todavía llegan a los tribunales eclesiásticos escritos de demanda de nulidad matrimonial en los que aparece esta patología entre los supuestos de hecho. Con este trabajo pretendemos ofrecer de forma resumida el conocimiento mínimo de esta enfermedad que un profesional del derecho canónico puede precisar, así como la incidencia de la epilepsia en cada uno de supuestos de nulidad que se pueden dar cuando uno de los cónyuges padece el mal comicial.
