Abstract

A eletrocinese é uma técnica de remediação que pode ser aplicada na remediação de compostos orgânicos, porém seu uso ainda é pouco explorado. Assim, este trabalho teve como objetivo apresentar os principais resultados obtidos na remediação de uma área contaminada por cloreto de vinila aplicando esta técnica. Para tanto, foi implantado um sistema de remediação com 27 eletrodos (anodos e catodos) com 3 geradores de energia de 30V, que operou por 18 meses. Os resultados indicaram redução da área e profundidade da contaminação decorrente provavelmente dos fenômenos de eletroosmose, eletromigr ação e eletroforese, além de redução de mais de 90% das concentrações de cloreto de vinila, devido às reações de eletro oxiredução. Desta forma, foi possível observar que a técnica de eletrocinese pode ser uma alternativa de remediação, apresentando elevada eficiência na degradação de compostos orgânicos.
