Fractura de cóndilo mandibular. Alternativas de tratamiento Mandibular condyle fractures. Treatment alternatives

Abstract

Abstract Mandibular fractures are frequent in patients with facial trauma. They may be a single traumatic event or combined with other craniofacial injuries. Condylar fractures constitute around 25 to 35% of mandibular lesions and, in most cases, are caused by an indirect mechanism of injuries. The therapeutic approaches could be summarized into two groups: conservative or closed treatment and open or surgical treatment, with some form of stable internal fixation. The aim of this paper is to discuss the various treatment alternatives and evaluate their short and medium term effectiveness. It performs also Based on a literature review, the evidence found is compared with the clinical experience that has been accumulated in our service. Key words: mandibular condyle fracture, closed treatment, open treatment.
