Fenotipos faciales en mayas de Yucatán

Abstract

En este artículo se analizan los fenotipos faciales de una serie de hombres y mujeres mayas de Yucatán, pertenecientes al acervo fotográfico del proyecto La cara del mexicano, con el propósito principal de indagar más sobre la variabilidad somática de este grupo de filiación mayense, que parece tener una identidad biológica particular. Los fenotipos de 128 hombres y 56 mujeres mayas de Yucatán se determinaron siguiendo la metodología establecida por Villanueva (2000). Los resultados se compararon entre los sexos, así como con los fenotipos faciales encontrados en otros grupos de población mexicana.
