Hemaglutinación indirecta para Sífilis (TPHA) en donantes de sangre

Abstract

En el presente estudio se realizó la prueba de ";;Hemaglutinación Indirecta para sífilis (TPHA)";; a 600 muestras de suero obtenidas de donantes de sangre procedentes del Instituto Hematológico de Occidente de Maracaibo. De las 600 muestras analizadas 14 resultaron VDRL reactivas, de las cuales todas fueron TPHA reactivas. De las 586 muestras restantes VDRL no reactivas, 15 resultaron TPHA reactivas, 10 cual representa un 2,56%. Consideramos este hallazgo de suma importancia ya que la prueba de Hemaglutinación Indirecta para sífilis (TPHA) detecta anticuerpos antitreponémicos específicos y por lo tanto se evidencia que al utilizar el VDRL como única prueba de descarte algunos donantes son considerados serológicamente no sifilíticos. De acuerdo a nuestros resultados nos permitimos sugerir que a todo donante de sangre VDRL no reactivo se le practique la prueba de Hemaglutinación Indirecta para sífilis (TPHA), especialmente cuando se necesite el empleo de sangre fresca como medida terapéutica.
