Potencial de carga contaminante en sector hidrogeológico de la provincia Ciego de Ávila

Abstract

Las aguas subterráneas presentan una permanente amenaza de contaminación ocasionada por acciones antrópicas, tales como el desarrollo urbano o las actividades industriales, mineras o agrícolas, constituyendo esto un riesgo para el ecosistema y la salud si se considera al recurso subterráneo como proveedor de agua para consumo humano. Es por ello que, en este estudio, se aplicó el método POSH, herramienta que permitió identificar las fuentes contaminantes enmarcadas en el sector hidrogeológico CA-I-5, las actividades que más inciden con fuentes contaminantes de interés para la protección del acuífero unido a la clasificación y estimación de la carga contaminante al subsuelo; aspectos que constituyen un paso fundamental en los programas de evaluación de peligro de contaminación y protección de la calidad de las aguas subterráneas en la provincia avileña.
