Actividad antibacteriana in vitro del extracto y aceite esencial de hojas de Muña (Minthostachys mollis)

Abstract

Objetivo: comparar la actividad antibacteriana in vitro del extracto, aceite esencial de hojas de muña (Minthostachys mollis), ciprofloxacina, doxiciclina y amoxicilina frente a dos géneros y cinco cepas bacterianas patógenas. Materiales y métodos: estudio experimental, enfoque cuantitativo, actividad antibacteriana determinada por el método modificado de pozos en agar de Kirby-Bauer. Resultados: el rendimiento del aceite esencial fue 1,19%. Las medias de los halos de inhibición del aceite esencial al 100% frente al S. aureus fue 27 mm mayor al extracto y la doxiciclina; sumamente sensible ≥ 20 mm contra el género Proteus spp, y cepas de K. pneumoniae, E coli, P. aeruginosa; además, fue más efectivo con 17 mm frente al género Enterobacter spp, y la cepa E. faecalis con relación a los ≤ 12,8 mm del extracto y los controles positivos. Así mismo, existe diferencias estadísticamente significativas en las medias de los halos de inhibición en al menos 2 de los grupos analizados con un p <0,05 y 95% de confianza, del ANOVA de un factor de Tukey y de Kruskal-Wallis. Conclusiones: el aceite esencial de muña al 100% presentó mayor actividad inhibitoria frente al género Proteus spp, y cepas de K. pneumoniae, E coli, P. aeruginosa que el extracto, doxiciclina y amoxicilina. Así mismo, la inhibición fue mayor contra el género Enterobacter spp, y la cepa E. faecalis en comparación a los demás tratamientos utilizados.
