Abstract

A grande preocupação com o controle do meio ambiente tem motivado indústrias e órgãos governamentais a minimizarem os efeitos prejudiciais da poluição ambiental. A atividade de lavagem de veículos utiliza grande quantidade de água que, normalmente, não é reutilizada, sendo simplesmente descartada na rede de esgoto municipal. Nesse contexto, os lava jatos são potenciais fontes de poluição, visto que seus efluentes contêm uma quantidade considerável de derivados de petróleo e surfactantes. O presente trabalho apresenta uma pesquisa no sistema de limpeza de veículos e suas peças, realizada em uma empresa de transporte na cidade de Contagem - MG, tendo por objetivo a caracterização do efluente industrial gerado nos processos de lavagens dos veículos e suas peças, a fim de caracterizar a carga poluidora que é lançada.
