FOTODECOMPOSIÇÃO E PROTEÇÃO DE MADEIRAS TROPICAIS

Abstract

RESUMO Este trabalho compara os processos de fotodecomposição de cinco madeiras tropicais submetidas ao intemperismo simulado sob a ação conjunta de radiação ultravioleta e água e somente na presença de radiação. Na condição mais prejudicial foram examinados os efeitos de proteção do verniz poliuretânico e do stain. Os processos de degradação foram monitorados por espectrocolorimetria. O angelim vermelho e o ipê-amarelo foram as madeiras mais resistentes ao intemperismo, seguidas pela garapeira e pelo jatobá, nesta ordem. Os dois produtos testados não impediram que ocorresse variação de cor das superfícies das madeiras, porém ambos causaram retardamento no processo.
