Abstract

Em Medicina vemos com frequência situações clínicas que não apresentam ad initium o seu quadro típico, desenrolando-se em sucessivos episódios de doença que, se se revestirem de alguma gravidade, tenderão a levar os pacientes a serviços de urgência hospitalares, locais onde é difícil obter uma visão prismática da situação. Descreve-se o caso de um homem de 71 anos, sem antecedentes, quer patológicos, quer de consumo frequente de cuidados de saúde, que, no intervalo de três meses, recorre dez vezes a consultas não programadas, seis das quais hospitalares. Na sequência destas consultas sofre três internamentos e é submetido a duas intervenções cirúrgicas urgentes, intervaladas de apenas uma semana. Termina com uma complicação infecciosa da ferida cirúrgica que o mantém por mais 90 dias sob os cuidados de enfermagem do seu Centro de Saúde. Com a apresentação do caso, transversal a vários serviços, pretende-se desvendar todas as faces de uma realidade parcialmente oculta nos sucessivos episódios de urgência ocorridos, possibilitando assim uma reflexão e a necessária mudança de atitudes.
