Abstract

Esta tesis se estructura en tres partes. La primera se dedica a los orígenes del cristianismo en las tierras vasconas, tratando de rastrear las diferentes interpretaciones de la historiografía más reciente, para centrarnos singularmente en los tres aspectos que más incidirán en la personalidad cristiana de la Navarra primordial: la sede episcopal pamplonesa y sus límites, la superposición del cristianismo sobre el paganismo, y la evangelización legendaria protagonizada por San Saturnino y San Fermín. La segunda, dedicada a la reconstrucción de la retícula poblacional con su correspondiente sustrato hagionímico. Y la tercera es un apéndice cartográfico final que consta del mapa municipal utilizado como base, las realidades geohistóricas de la Navarra altomedieval, y los cultos más importantes de las parroquias y monasterios de la Alta Edad Media.
