Casteles have long been a subject of scientific research, including geography of tourism. Due to the official opening of the reconstructed, medieval castle in Inowłódz (Łódź region) in June 2013, it was decided to analyze its meaning. The paper attempts to determine the relationship between reconstructed castle and its impact on tourism in Inowłódz in the first year of its use. At the beginning the tourist attractiveness of Inowłódz, according to selected valorisations was described. Furthermore, a brief history of the reconstruction and its current use concerning tourist, educational and cultural functions was discussed. It was pointed out that the reconstruction contributed to creating new tourism space, where tourism commercialization processes occur in the surrounding of the castle. Then, on the bases of research, the size and the structure of tourism were presented. Subsequently, the opinions of tourists and locals about tourism development in Inowłódz were presented. The research shows that in the first year of use of the castle the extensive impact on tourism can be observed. It was revealed that the reconstruction of the castle causes specific effects and relationships on different levels. The findings and research results can be useful for similar activities concerning reconstructions of historic buildings in the country.
