The objective of this study was to describe the morphological characteristics of peritoneum samples from four adult pacas, which were fresh and preserved in 98% glycerin for 30, 60 and 90 days. Samples were analyzed using light and scanning electron microscopy. A clear arrangement between the dense, modeled connective tissue and the dense, unmodeled connective tissue, and an insignificant change in the membrane tissue integrity, were observed in the material preserved in the glycerin. The results suggest that paca peritoneum can be used as a biological material.
