Nuevas constelaciones de medicamentos para el glaucoma

Abstract

La presente revisión tiene como objetivo presentar las nuevas opciones terapéuticas para el tratamiento del glaucoma. El tratamiento médico del glaucoma ha experimentado una evolución sorprendente a partir de la aparición de nuevos colirios hipotensores. Diferentes firmas investigan actualmente las opciones terapéuticas más sencillas, eficaces y mejor toleradas por los pacientes. Los análogos de las prostaglandinas se consideran la primera línea de tratamiento; sin embargo, se desarrollan nuevas drogas con resultados prometedores, como latanoprostene bunod (Vesneo), netarsudil 0,02 % (Rhopressa), trabodenoson (Inotek Pharmaceutical) y otros compuestos de liberación sostenida. Se han generado innumerables ensayos clínicos, así como publicaciones que se refieren al tema en los Estados Unidos, la Unión Europea y Japón, los cuales curiosamente han sido denominados con nombres de planetas o constelaciones.
