Abstract

En el marco de su conferencia titulada “Neoextractivismo, Gobiernos y Democracias en América Latina”, en el Congreso ALAS 2015, conversamos con la socióloga argentina Maristela Svampa sobre temas como la globalización neoliberal, las reformas estructurales en la región durante los últimos años, las luchas de resistencia en defensa del territorio frente al neoextractivismo y los retos que enfrentan las ciencias sociales para estudiar actualmente estos fenómenos. De acuerdo con la Svampa, si bien asistimos a un periodo de expansión de la frontera de los derechos sociales, colectivos y ambientales, asistimos, al mismo tiempo, a la expansión de la frontera del capital sobre territorios antes considerados improductivos, por lo que en los últimos quince años se ha intensificado la extracción de commodities (bienes primarios) orientados a la exportación y expandidos a gran escala, situación que impone el reto de pensar la relación entre economía y sociedad, cuestionando las políticas neoliberales.
