Abstract

En el presente siglo, cada día más personas envejecen y rebasan la frontera cronológica de los 60 años; se espera que el planeta logre cuadriplicar su población de avanzada edad en los próximos cincuenta años. Actualmente, una de cada 10 personas es mayor de 60 años, pero en el 2050 esta proporción aumentará a una de cada cinco1.
