Con el comienzo de las excavaciones en Begastri se han esclarecido los distintos debates sobre los orígenes del cristianismo en el lugar, teniendo en especial consideración la epigrafía encontrada en el entorno y todos los restos arqueológicos. El artículo expone diversas teorías sobre el comienzo de la diócesis de Begastri y la relación que tenía con los centros visigodos de los alrededores.
