The article demonstrates the place of the technical and technological factors in the sociological knowledge: in paradigms and metaparadigms of theoretical sociology, in general scientific approaches and certain conceptions of social sciences. The author analyzes the evolution of the information society and its theoretical conceptualization. Core role of technological transformations in the socio-economic genesis is explained.
