EVALUACIÓN DE LA TASA DE PROGRESIÓN DE ENFERMEDADES DE CORAL EN UN ARRECIFE DE LA REGIÓN NOROCCIDENTAL DE CUBA.

Abstract

Durante el periodo del 7 mayo al 7 de julio del 2006 se evaluó la Tasa de Progresión de cuatro enfermedades de coral en un arrecife del litoral de Ciudad de la Habana. Un total de 21 colonias enfermas fueron marcadas (Plaga, Puntos negros, Manchas amarillas y Banda negra). Para el análisis de la tasa de progresión de las enfermedades, se realizaron mediciones del largo y ancho máximo de cada lesión con intervalos de 8 días. La enfermedad de Plaga blanca fue la de mayor tasa de progresión (1.11mm día-1) y afectó colonias de S. siderea, A. agaricites, M. faveolata y M. cavernosa. Manchas amarillas mostró una velocidad media de 0.3mm día -1 y afectó solamente colonias de M. faveolata. Puntos negros y Banda negra no mostraron ningún avance y afectaron colonias de S. siderea. La sintomatología que presentaron las colonias enfermas coincide con lo descrito por los especialistas para otras áreas del Caribe.
