Abstract

Fragmento De estudios sobre el bocio endémico se deduce que sus causas más comunes son: 1. Deficiencia de yodo en la alimentación. 2. Presencia de factores bociógenos en los alimentos; 3. Falla de la biosíntesis hormonal de la tiroides, relacionada, generalmente, con trastornos genéticos. El conocimiento acerca de la deficiencia de yodo resulta del estudio del metabolismo del yodo en el organismo, así como también, de la comparación de la cantidad de yodo existente en la alimentación en regiones bociosas y no bociosas. A pesar de ello, no se ha aclarado cuál es el valor "normal" de la cantidad de yodo necesario diariamente. *Conferencia dictada en la VI reunión anual de la Sociedad Colombiana de Endocrinologia, Bucaramanga 27-29 de noviembre de 1969
