Abstract

Y si he de dar un testimonio sobre mi época es éste: Fue bárbara y primitiva pero poética. En la figura de Ernesto Cardenal (1925-2020) se conjugan la praxis política revolucionaria, en consonancia con los movimientos seculares de sectores de la iglesia católica (cuya teología fue la de “la liberación”) que buscaban poner en práctica una emancipación prometida por (al menos, vislumbrada en) la palabra evangélica, y la confianza contemporánea en la potencia liberadora de los grandes movimientos políticos del siglo XX. Su condición de poeta y sacerdote católico atento a las vanguardias poéticas y literaturas contemporáneas, así como a las implicancias de las reformas vaticanas, estuvo cargada de contradicciones que se fueron acentuando hasta alcanzar cotas de extrema tensión en todas las instituciones que lo tuvieron como protagonista. En este marco, su poesía resultó un texto abierto de apropiaciones, reformulaciones, comentarios y retextualizaciones constantes, constituyéndose en una poética escatológica y, siempre, política...
