Observações sobre a frota pesqueira em Ubatuba, litoral norte do Estado de São Paulo, no perí­­odo 1995/1996

Abstract

O municí­­pio de Ubatuba, situado no litoral norte do Estado de São Paulo, possuí­­a, durante o perí­­odo 1995-1996, a pesca como importante atividade econômica, a qual era praticada através de uma frota composta de 162 embarcações e cuja ação era centralizada na pesca de arrasto (62%), realizada com barcos de pequeno porte e com pequenos investimentos. Os resultados das pesquisas permitem concluir que, para o crescimento do setor, será necessário estimular a prática da pesca semi-industrial, através da capacitação dos pescadores, proporcionando, assim, a melhoria da qualidade do produto.
