PRODUCCIÓN DE METANO UTILIZANDO PLANTAS TANIFERAS COMO SUBSTRATO EN FERMENTACIÓN RUMINAL IN VITRO Y EFECTO DE EXTRACTOS FENÓLICOS EN LA MICROFLORA RUMINAL

Abstract

El uso de forrajes ricos en taninos condensados (TC) en dietas para rumiantes es una estrategia que ha servido para disminuir las emisiones de CH4; sin embargo, la forma de actuar de estos compuestos en el rumen aún no está esclarecida. En este estudio se evaluó la actividad antimicrobiana de TC de quebracho (TCQ) y aceite de orégano (AO) sobre la microflora ruminal, consecutivamente fueron evaluados una dieta base (DB) y la inclusión en ésta, de TCQ, AO y dos especies de plantas taníferas (Mimosa diplotricha L. 4.3% TC y Tagetes erecta 1.3% TC ) a diferentes niveles (bajo, medio y alto) de inclusión. Se determinó la cinética de fermentación y se cuantificó la producción de CH4 en un sistema in vitro. Los TCQ al 3% y una concentración de 555 ppm de AO inhibieron el crecimiento de los microorganismos, demostrando propiedades antibacterianas.
